Default How do you replace a Rush Baffle?

OK... put on the Rush 1.75's Slip-ons.The idle sound is great (deep rumble) and the cruising sound is excellent but...they are just too loud for me when accelerating so I ordered 1.5 baffles yesterday (one of the reasons I chose Rush).

Here are my questions:

1) Do I need to take the slip-ons off to replace the baffles or are you just able to pull it out by the crossbar when it's still mounted to the bike? If done on the bike is iteasier to removeif the pipes are hot?

2) Based on what I've read here, I think I'm going to first try just swapping outonly theleft baffle and see how that sounds since I still have the stock crossover header (or should I not try this for some reason?). Maybe that will quiet it down enough......if not I'll do the right one too....

PS..I've gottasay the Rush pipes sound fantastic they are just too loud for me when accelerating!!

Just put on some 2.0 had found them to be too loud for me. From what I understand, there should be a set screw behind the heat shield.Loosen the heat shield to get at the set screw. BTW, where did you order the 1.5's?

I bought them at :
http://www.fuelmotousa.com/

My Rush's have a bolt and nut that are visable and accesable from inside the rear of the muffler.. I think that's the ony thing stopping the baffles from coming out. I think they have different Series ofbaffles based on the model and year ofthe bike.

there are two set screws under and to the back on each slip on....no need to remove the slipons...take the set screws out and start the bike...rev it some and you'll notice the baffle wigglin its way out...shut off bike and pull em out with pliers...now crank bike and warm up the empty slipons so's they'll expand with the heat..now take the new baffles and slip em in, re-insert set screws...ride it...i like the 2" baffles...from the rear folks'll see one dont match the other and raz ya bout it...do em both

nut/bolt....allen button head....dont matter the type, just take em out and then proceed with my redneck way of removin em

I believe it's a 3/16" allen and 1/2" nut at tip of muffler. I use a flat piece of steel with a medium sized bolt through it at the end,
slide it in and around the bar in the middle of the baffle...and pull. Pops right out....or pull some more.

I've used both 1.50 & 1.75.....they both rock coming through the gears. Something to get used to.

I just recently switched my 2.00" baffles to 2.50". I have about 11K miles on the 2.0's and no matter how hard I tried to pull or twist them they just wouldn't come out. So I had to take the pipes off and use an old broom handle to punch out the baffles.

Ditto on taking the pipes off and using the broom handle method. Bike was running andhot and theywouldn't budge even using a slide hammer with a hook, just bent the welded on bar that runs across the baffles which I assumed was there to use the slide hammer on...
