Freedom Shields fan here. I have a few I switch on and off. And more than a few Ive tried and passed-on.
Whatever brand you land on, height will be critical to your experience. I had an 8 one that landed in a turbulence-creating sweet-spot. My 5 and 7 shields work great for me.
I just looked up LRS screen. I might get one for those longer rides, because I am not too crazy about the look of them. I can see what you are talking about with the wind hitting the sides of your head with KW and how those are molded. If that was gone and the wind on top of my head, it would be like riding on a Lazy Boy! But the fangs definitely helped.
Post some good pics of that LRS screen when you get it installed!
I am considering going with 8.5 KW screen. Mine is 6.5 inch. It works, I don't mind it, I like it, but I think with one extra inch that 8.5 provides it would add more wind resistance.
I also added the adjustable wind deflectors to the fairing and a curved 10" windshield, combined they work pretty well.
Alright, I can confirm with confidence that the engine runs little hotter with fangs installed. I constantly saw 320 degrees during my ride yesterday. I rarely see it that high last year.
So, if its super hot out, I am sure it would be even higher.
This is riding in mid 80s outside temp.
Thanks for the info. I am considering removing the fangs for the summer, since I ride without the windshield most of the time in summer, no windshield = no buffeting, fangs or no fangs. It has been upper 90's with 70 degree dew points all week here, I was concerned that the engine would run even hotter than usual. I am glad I installed an oil cooler fan, I am sure it helped during stop and go traffic.

I was thinking about getting these, but I think with the fangs, that would really bring the engine temp up. Can you adjust those to flow the air onto the engine?
At this point, I am very happy with the airflow from the bottom.
