Default Speedometer Readings off, Why?

Range of km left is off. Shows empty on gauge but on fillup only takes 19litres when it will hold 22l (6 gal.)
Riding with friend who has same motor 114ci, my speedo shows 120km/h his reads 110km/hr.

I have replaced diameter of front wheel with 19" mag from HD, 2018 Tri-Glide.
I have DK Tank lift: 1.5" front, ½" on rear of tank.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to re-calibrate so speed and Range can be corrected?

Your signature shows you have an FP3. You can calibrate the speedometer with the FP3.

Yes, with a Power Vision. Other tuners also allow you to calibrate the speedo. But the speedo from the manufacturer will always read high - liability, variability in tire pressure, wear etc.

Range will always be inaccurate, very difficult to calculate and discern how you will be riding in the future with your remaining gas. Is your car's range that accurate? Doubtful.

Thanks for the suggestion! I have not been using the FP3 lately as I had a new cam, oil pump and cam plate installed recently. HD authorized shop. He tuned after with Techno-Research tuner. Could that tune have something to do with my situation?

I understand Range is not accurate, but mine shows 50-75km less than my riding buddy's with same motor, less cam. I understand that the RANGE issue and the MPH issue may be two different things and further confused by tank lift.

I see you have a trike. My understanding (don't know for certain) that the trikes are geared differently from the bikes, lower overall gearing. If the speedo still gets its signal from the transmission, the lower gearing could be causing your high speedo reading IF your tune was for a two wheeler and included the pulse rate for a two wheeler. Just a wild guess that others may agree or disagree with. I also suspect your cam will deliver slightly reduced fuel economy compared to your buddies" unmodified engines. Speed/power is not free.

Thanks for your reply. I understand that trikes vs 2 wheelers have different gear ratios. I do understand the cam will decrease mpg/kpl as well. What I don't get is my friend also riding a tri-glide 114CI M8 was indicating 100km/h while at the same time my speedo registered 120km/hr.

Well I did think of that but there were others on the trip who were all at the same speed. I was 'odd man out' and that argument was lost.

Your tuner, using your tuning key & DL, can edit/correct the speedo ratio so the speed is accurate. The range may never be, as you have changed the tank orientation.
