I have a 2001 EGC. Several years ago, I had a similar issue; however, for me it would happen 5-10 minutes into any ride. I would loose the Speedo, turn signals wouldn't auto-cancel, the radio volume dropped (thinking I came to a stop, Odometer stopped registering miles, etc.... I replaced the speed sensor and all was right again. No issues since.
I had a mechanic tell me he couldn't duplicate it. Well, this is because most of them ride it for a minute down the road. My bike required 5-10 minutes.
