Disabling the Security system
2002 Harley Road King FLHRCI with TSSM security system and siren.
Reviewing the procedure to disable the security system in the event of a lost or broken fob, I find out the manual steps necessary to disable the system do not work.
Using the steps right from the Service manual for a 2002 with the security system enabled.
1. Run switch OFF
2. Ignition switch to Accessory
As soon as I turn the switch to accessory the alarm beeps a warning signal. If left to its own devices the alarm will begin wailing for about 30 seconds and I can not proceed per the instructions.
I have no idea what is wrong. It used to work. I have tested the procedure out before, how long ago I can not remember, but it has been a while.
All of the other procedures of the TSSM do work.
Does anyone know how to reset the TSSM without disturbing the current security code?
The only thing that might be a monkey wrench in the works is the speedo has been replaced with a Dakota Digital gauge.
Any thoughts?

Been a long time since I've used the security system on my 2002 or 2003 bikes. Been 10 years since I practiced my security code...
But looking at my security code card, do you hold both turn signal switches in, immediately after turning the IGN to ACC....? Supposedly, after you hold them in, you get a confirmation (flashes and/or beep) and then you are supposed to start entering your code...
I don't think that when bypassing security with your code, it's good to "If left to its own devices" or "the alarm will begin wailing for about 30 seconds"....
That's all I can offer...
There is no way, I am aware of, to reset the TSSM... there is a long, complicated procedure for marrying a new TSSM to the bike, but I doubt that would help you with this..
Good luck and post up the fix when you get it sorted....

Don’t know if this will help; my bike is a ‘08. I have a HD speedo/tach combo, and it is a booger when it comes to the security disarm. Doesn’t work half the time (most of the time actually), but I’ve found that if I raise the dash panel and disconnect the speedo for a few seconds, it works fine for a few times. It’s been a bear for years. The gauges periodically swing back and forth while riding, and I’ve caught the mph (not the rpm) registering way too slow every once in a while. But I love that tach!!
Problem has gone away. I installed a used but good TSSM and all is good.
Reinstalled the original TSSM and everything is golden now. Disabling the Security system via manual entry works just fine on both TSSM's.
I don't know what changed to allow it to work.
Actually Rereading my original post I note that I had Dakota Digital gauges installed.
Curently I have the original stock gauges installed so that must be the difference
