Not sure what you mean by first gen PowerVision, so forgive me if I misunderstand what you mean and I'm telling you something you already know...

I have two PowerVision tuners (long story), one older (2013) and one newer (2018)...

I can update both via the computer. I can get firmware updates, as well additional tunes... the both of them function the same, with the current firmware updates..

I had an old tune on my 2003 EFI bike, and after updating my PowerVision, there was a button that allows you to "update tune". That allows you to see and change parameters that were originally hidden in the first tune. Those parameters are now part of the tune, and available for use, as long as they are compatible with the older ECM...

PS- Looks like you have a set of Jason's FCS fans..... My set of Jason's fans are on their 2nd bike, and working perfectly..

yes my PV is a very early one so I was clarifying that because I said I lost gear position indication with this upgrade. I could not remember who’s fans they were but I remember it was a member on HD that was selling them. I bought mine in early 2013 maybe even 2012 and they have never given me any problems and do a great job of getting the temp down.

Those are a set of the original FCS fans, very well built.. And Jason's customer service was excellent....

if you ever need a new thermostat or fan motor, search this site, replacement parts were found and the information shared...

Too bad Jason doesn't make them anymore. I followed his posts on this forum, as he tested and developed them. Once he started producing them and they became popular, someone from Love Jugs used to post on here about how small and inefficient they were, and said Jason was violating their patent on motorcycle cooling fans.... Then Jason suddenly closed up shop without any explanation, and lo and behold, Love Jugs now makes a knock-off version of Jason's fans, that they used to badmouth, called Mighty Mights... Yeah, I'll stick with Jason's fans!!
