What is the purpose of the panel beside the vent? Also, on the inside, there are plastic panels with 2 screws in them. Do they serve a purpose? The screws are lock-tite'd in and impossible to remove without cutting them. What are these for?
the blanks can be removed and screens (for cooling air to the radiators) snapped in their place. in the summer, it allows more airflow. also, relatively cheap, about $30 for the pair. however, your feet will get wet if you get caught in the rain.
the inner panel just gives a little more finished look if you don't have the twin cooled version. covers up the radiator mounting.

Thanks man. I removed the outside panels for more airflow. Good to know there are screens to make it look better. I have the blank panels in my side bag in case it starts raining.
The inside panel just takes up space. With it, I can't use my extended brake. I wanted to make sure they weren't important before I cut them out.
