Default Cooling Down Vented Lowers

For the past few years , I've removed the vents from my lowers each summer to improve airflow between my legs and the cylinders.
This year I thought I'd see if there was a way I could increase the amount of air without having to remove them twice a year.
There looked to be quite a bit of "excess" material on the vents , so I removed and disassembled the lowers and cut away all the material on the engine side of the main support of each vent.
I should have taken "before" pictures , but I forgot , so the one picture has a tape measure to the frame so you can compare yours at home if you need a comparison.
The vents still have plenty of coverage closed for the cold weather , but the open position is much improved.

You will need to leave some material near the top (where the radius is)so the stabilizer pin still works , and the vent is still strong and stable.
Sorry about the bugs , but after my test ride of 200 miles , I was too excited to wash it.......

Nice, I just take the things off. I haven't had them on in a couple of years now.

I removed my vents and haven't even thought about putting them back on. Guess I should have got the non vented ones.

I removed the leg fairings off of my Ultra Limited last weekend to give the motor more air. But this does not look like a bad ideal.

I have mine off, but am considering putting them back on, I am almost convinced I get more air across the motor(when moving)than when they are off. Seems to be getting a lot more heat on my right thigh than I remember with them on. But then again, could just be me, been over the 90's almost everyday riding to work, seems to be not so bad at 11 pm going home.

I would like to see a picture with one of them closed.
