Sorry about that . I forgot about the closed version.
You can see that it still has very good coverage in the closed position also.
Being an 09 , it doesn't need much help with making enough heat.......

To remove the Vents from the Lowers. Is there a trick to getting them out of the lowers?
Removed the bolt and nut and the two ratchet disks. But can not get the vents out of the lowers. Appears there is a slotted channel at the top and the slot is secured by something holding them at the top. Had the vent completely loose, just could not get it out the lower. Didn't want to break anything by forcing it too much.
Just took my vents out last weekend. There is a slot in the top of the vent and a pin on the back side of the storage pockets. I had my lowers completely off when I did mine so it was easy to take the storage pockets off to get the vents off of the pins. Don't know how hard it would be to get the vents over the pins with the lowers still on the bike.
I would almost try leaving the vent mounted in the lowers. Make a template, mark the vent and use a dremel tool. If the cut edges look to bad, then cover it with a piece of door edge guard. Which would look good anyhow.
It would probably be difficult to hold the vent steady that way huh?
