Default 2007 Harley Davidson Road King Shifting issue

Good morning I’m trying to help a friend of mine he has a 2007 road king 6 speed clutch cable not hydraulic.
he got stuck on the highway where his bike just won’t go into gear. I put his bike in neutral and tried to shift it into first yet the bike was still in neutral or just couldn’t find the gear obviously. I tried pulling upwards for more gears still cat grab a gear. The bike just roles like it’s in neutral still.
has anyone had any experience with this before I start turning any wrenches??
what to look for first any obvious and what to do next after these things don’t work.

Any help would be great I’ve never worked on internal transmission before so if you have any links as well that would be most helpful

Making sure people know that it is not hydraulic as many people have done upgrades.

Have you checked to see if the drive belt has broken?

First check shift rod. at trans is it stripped? If good check clutch basket mine stripped and had to replace at 90k. Good luck

Shift rod. Take a peak at this video…much more common than folks realize.

If there is a problem with the clutch it should still shift with the engine off. With it not running, rock the bike back and forth while shifting. Watch the entire shift linkage assembly and make sure all of the parts are moving as a unit. Stepping on the lever should make the arm on the transmission (behind the primary) move.
