I left my RGC outside and it rained on it on and off for a day and a half. Not the first time I've done that. I went out and started it and it would only run for about 10 to 15 seconds and then die. After several attempts I got in my pickup and went to work. I later did the diagnostic test and it came up with 2 codes that indicated that the coil or the coil wires to the ECM were bad. I put a new coil on along with spark plugs and spark plug wires. The fuel pump wouldn't work afterwards. I took the tank off and found the wire from the ECM to the injectors and coil is dead. My RGC has over 100K miles and hasn't ever left me stranded. Can a ECM go out and is there anyway of testing it?
I couldn't find any broken wires so just for the heck of it I took the back cover off the ECM and water came out. I don't know how long it has been in there but I am going to try another one and hope like heck that was the problem.

Just outta curiosity do you have any idea how water got in there ?
That just doesn't happen very often I'd think

I have no idea what so ever. I have ridden in downpours so bad that I have watched the white line on the side of the road so I wouldn't go off the road.
