Default Older ultra classic question

Hey there everyone. Hopefully someone here can give me some advice. I have a 1998 ultra classic (Flhtcui) and I would like to remove the tour pack and replace with just a sissy bar. I know how to get the pack off, I just can't seem to find a sissy bar and mounting hardware that will work with my bike. Everywhere I look I see it's not compatible with the 1998. HD apparently don't make a quick detach system for bikes that far back. I'd be happy not using the tour pack at all anymore but I need at least a sissy bar to keep the other half happy 😁. If anyone has any suggestions or can ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance.

It says that because they don’t make the wiring quick connect on the ultras. You can do it yourself and use the 97-08 detach kit and you’ll be fine. I did it with my 08.

My 98 Road King Classic had a detachable set up for the leather tourpak / backrest setup so I'd think there's something out there.

It’s because his is the ultra classic with radio speakers, etc and they didn’t make them quick connects, yours is a road king so it was covered in the “it fits” description.

Thanks dawg. I'm not to worried about the quick detach for all the wires and such. I just want to know what quick detach kit I need for the front and back of the sissy bar. It really confused me because I went with the sissy bar from hogworkz and tmgot the front detach kit that they told me I needed and worked and when I got it it said right on the package "does not work with Flhtcui". It says it does on the website and they said that's all I needed. Then I figure out I need the rear detach kit and on every site I've found that it says "does not work on Flhtcui, so I didn't know what to do. So the front and rear detach kits that says don't work, actual does?

Yes, the front and rear detach kits work for sissy bar and tour pak on the ultra. They merely state won’t fit because of the wiring which can be rectified as you can see in the link I posted.

53303-07A is the whole enchilada or you can buy docking kits 53804-06 and 53803-06 and use aftermarket parts.
