Default Utlra Windshield Installation

I took my Windshield off last night to give it a good cleaning (have the 3 pouch windshield bag) for the 1st time in 3 months and over 3k. After I got it off and clean, I couldn't find my 1/4" in/lb torque wrench. Went to Sears and a couple of other places today to no avail. Seems to me it would be real easy to over tighten the three screws: started to tighten, not much past finger tight, and noticed the outer fairing start to flex. Is this normal? Looks like ordering a new wrench will take about 7 days unless I get time and can find another one, and I don't want to overtighten nor lose the screws... Any thoughts on this? I am used to my RK Custom so the fairing maintenance is new to me and maybe I am just being over protective. Thanks.

Make sure the windshield slots are fitting over the recess that the screws screw into on the inner fairing. May have to just move the windshield around a bit. I probably should have used a torque wrench, but haven't the numerous times i've had the fairing off and have had no problems. I just snug the screws up and re-check them frequently. Just be careful and insure the fairing is fitting up against the inner fairing and windshield.

I switch between the tall and short windshields on my '05 Ultra all the time. Have never used a torque wrench. I just snug them up pretty good, and keep an eye on them. The fairing will distort a little. It freaked me out the first time also. I have never had a problem, after two years and 30,000 miles.
