Can somebody with a 09 or 10 Street Glide take a look at the inner faring top and see if they have a gap between the inner fairing top and windshield? and if so is there a seal of some type or just the plastic inner fairing? I put one of those chrome dress up strips on the outside fairing at the base of the windshield but didn't notice ahead of time whether that gap thats there now was there before or not and whether there was some type of seal before that may have fallen inside the fairing?. Also the book claims a torque value of 20 to 25 inch pounds but the paper work with the decorative strip says 8 inch pounds? Thats hardly finger tight? Thanks for any help here. Does anybody actually have a parts break down book? Good information would be greatly appreciated Rick
Don't have a 09 or 10 but there shouldn't be any gap. The inner fairing should pull right up against the W/S. Probably just didn't get everything lined up just right. Loosen it all up and try again.
If you have a gap, it is because the windshield is not seated properly. Loosen the screws a little and move the windshield around. One of the three bolt bosses is stopping the windshield from seating correctly.

+1 this usually happens whenever I switched windshields.
Also check that the windshield has not shifted and still has the alignment slots centered. When I replaced my windshield this was pointed out in the instructions to prevent damage to the shield and screws. Also I would not torque the screws, just snug them down. You could pull the threaded inserts out and really have some problems.
*Dang, not fast enough on the keyboard....

Yes there is a gasket on the front fairing side, it's not very think, but that's not your problem though.
If you have a gap, the holes in the windshield probably isn't on the mounts, just wabble/wiggle it around untill it seats properly. They are like little stubbs. The whidshield holes need to fit over them.
Just tighten the bolts down, it doesn't take much. Just snug them up. It's best to check check them every now and again too. I've never found mine loose and I changed the windshield lots and lots of times.
Here's some photos of my '09 SG. No gaps, no gasket across the windscreen joins. I have the decorative strip too, as you can see. The rubber gasket starts at each side of the screen when it clam-shells back together.
I never measured the torque whenever I pull/place the fairing, but hand-tight for sure.

I hope this helps.
Thanks alot. That is most helpful. Mine must just not be alihned properly. I'll try again tonight. I never took the windshield itself out. I just pulled the origibnal screws, placed on the trim, then snugged down the new screws. It looked a little wavy in front, and there is the gap on the inner fairing. I'll loosen the screws and try to realign tonight. Thanks again, the pics helped alot.
Poor Boy, did your trim piece come with rubber washers that went between the fairing and trim? Yours trim piece looks nice and flush to the fairing whereas the rubber washeers that came with mine keeps it gapped?? Thanks again, appreciate the time you took for the pics and response. Rick
