I'm looking for a pre-owned bike and ABS is a must. I'm looking at a Road King that is over 10 hours away. I had a salesman at a HD dealership tell me one of the quickest and easiest ways to tell whether or not a bike has ABS is to look for the ABS sensor wire running with the brake line to the front caliber. Also, when the ignition is first turned on the ABS light will come on momentarily. Well in the picture of this bike, I'm looking at, I can see what appears to be the sensor wire running with the front brake line but when he shared a video of him starting the bike I didn't see the ABS light come on. The owner/seller does not think the bike has ABS.
Is there anyway to tell for sure whether or not this RK has ABS?
Two ways, look under the right side panel, if it has ABS the pump will be there. You can also see the brake lines running to the pump on the right side of the frame by the steering head. Pretty easy to spot.
The wire could be for a front fender tip light.
There is a wire along the brake line, but in this case its the fender tip lamp.
There is no ABS wiring bracket attached beneath the caliper bolts = no ABS on this bike.
This is a good way to tell from a distance or through general pictures. A black steel bracket under the bolts of the left side caliper mounting bolts.
I'm glad someone mentioned the fender tip light. I've been on my SG long enough that I forgot about that light and would've likely said that the wire you see in the above picture was ABS.

Thanks,

The owner of the bike doesn't know if his bike has ABS? If he is truly the rider/owner, I might be a little leery, buying something from someone who may be clueless.

To be exact and fair, the owner told me it didn't have ABS but when I saw that wire running along the brake cable, I double checked with him. My asking and pointing out the wire confused him also.
I'm to blame for the confusion. It appears to be a nice well maintained bike with several options/accessories that I want. I was hoping that it had ABS.
