Default Ultra Classic FOB and signal interference question for other vehicles

I recently bought a 2005 Ultra Classic. The FOB has the button on it. I press it for a few seconds and it activates the security system. I press it quickly 2 times and it will deactivate it. Seems to work fine. The bike runs good no problems. I was told by a motorcycle shop that I must have the FOB with me or my bike won't start. I know that is the case for the newer proximity FOB, but is this true for the older Harley Davidson button FOB? I'm asking because my bike will start when the FOB is no where near the bike. I'm talking miles away.
Question 2 - Ever since I bought my bike the FOBs on my 2016 Ram truck and my 2019 Subaru Forester won't work when my bike is around them. I can't lock or unlock the doors and sometime I can't start them normally. Also, I went riding with a friend who has a 2010 Ultra Classic he wasn't able to start his bike after shutting it off at a gas station until I moved far away from him. When we stopped at bar to grab a cold beverage, I parked next to him and his security system lights started flashing. He couldn't turn them off until I parked far away from him. I think problem has to do with my security system. That is the reason for the first question. I want to make sure I understand how the button FOB is suppose to work. I scheduled my bike for a diagnostic check at a Harley dealership but they told me they might not be able to figure it out because they can not duplicate the problem. I told them to park it next to another bike. Has anyone ever heard of this or have any ideas what could be causing my problem. No one wants to ride with me because they are afraid that there bike won't start.... Thanks for your help!

No, a push button FOB is not required to start/run your bike if the system is not engaged.

As to part 2 of your post....no idea.

Had a push button fob on my 04 ultra. As long as the alarm isn’t turned on no fob needed, would leave my fob home sometimes with no problem starting it. As for the second part never had that problem riding with other people, my wife has a 13 street glide and her bike never had a problem starting.

If you want to ride with your FOB to activate the alarm when out with others, consider an RF-shielded bag to carry the FOB. I use one with my car FOB. Keeps stray RF from emanating from it.

It should keep your buddies happy - and you having to walk 1/2 mile away 😂

Has nothing to do with my bike FOB. My bike FOB is miles away at my work. Car FOBs still not working . My car FOBs only work when my bike is not around. Took it in to change all the oils. FOBs worked. Brought my bike home, FOBs stopped working,

You can still start the bike even without the fob disarming the system…you set or use a PIN. Owners manual or Google-Fu search will show you how.
I had to use the PIN system on my old 05 Ultra when I let my batteries get a little too low….
It’s a PITA but not a huge deal. Lucky for me…the PIN was written down in the owner’s manual in my tour pack as I bought the bike used.

This mystery is easy to solve. Create the conditions you think your older non proximity security system is interfering with other vehicles. Pull the positive battery cable and wait 2 minutes. If the other vehicles still have "interference issues" it isn't your bike. The best way to solve a problem is to insure you're headed down the right road to begin with. I will say this, the older button type HD security systems was a rolling code set up. If you start rowing the button it'll cause a malfuntion.

Like I said, pull the positive cable on the bike and prove/disprove your theory. If it still does it, move both the MC and the cage to a location other than your house and disconnect the positive cable on the bike again. I had a mechanic who worked for me when I ran a fleet. He "decided" within ten seconds what was wrong with a vehicle and then spent the next six hours throwing parts and labor at the problem only to have it come back in the front door. He eventually left thru that very door because he couldn't change.

Step one, start simple and prove what the problem is before doing anything else.

Even if you find out it is the bike, it may not be the security system.
Check out any add-ons to the bike, like LED lights which are known
to cause interference with security systems.

Definitely the bike. I took the positive battery off and the truck and car FOBs worked. Put the positive cable back on, FOBs stopped working.

You could do what I did; remove the TSSM and replace it with a TSM. Reprogam the bike, done.
