Default Shoddy work, or me

Had a dealer today put heated grips on my 19 Street Glide special today, I have after market bars on it, but didn't notice till on way home that the left side was not up to the handle bar stop as the right side was. The left side before they installed the heated grips always was up against the stop. Stopped on the way home to give them a call and was told the mechanic could not get them go on any further. Thinking of pulling that side apart to see if I can do better, but then if I mess them up it's on me. Thinking of calling owner and have him show me a bike with the same heated grips on it that looks like mine does. Am trying to support local, but that really **** me off, both for them, and me for not paying attention before I left. So, call owner, do it myself, or bring somewhere outta state?

That is some bullshit right there. I would not accept that answer from them. You have every right to be pissed, and get them to correct this for you, brother

Bring it back and have them correct the issue. Isn't that what you brought it there for, to get the job done right.

Yep, think ya'll right, today was the first day riding after triple bypass, so another close to 200 mile round trip sounds pretty good. and then I get to change oil and filter when I get home.

Sometimes the fix is to cut an 1/8th off the end of the bar as the interior length/depth of some heated grips (or aftermarket grips) is shorter/shallower than the OEM grips. That is if I'm understanding your problem correctly...

Also, aftermarket bars are notorious for having different grip shaft lengths as well which could be the actual problem and not a fault of the Dealer - ya know. Just sayin. Either way, should be an easy fix. Good luck.

What they told me was too much wire to stuff. Might say F it and do myself, as I did the bar swap with no problem to begin with, but got lazy after the surgery and figured let some one else do it. Just hate getting up 0600 to be first in line there, and not knowing what they have coming in.

Example: if you have Wild 1 Bars ...

(see topic on heated and short grips)

You would think a dealer would know about this ??
