Default KST Mayhem Bars - How do ya like em?

Recently posted a question on Street Glide mirrors and several comments on KST Mayhem bars which are the bars I am planning to go with. Originally planned on 10" to keep my hands below the top of the fairing however after going back and forth with KST on FBook, I am now thinking 12" is the better choice. Granted everyone is different, I'm 5'11" and average length arms etc. The one thing I am curious about is the wrist comfort, I broke my left wrist a year or so ago and it still bothers me here and there. They do make one bar, forget the model but it was adjustable so I could adjust for better wrist positioning but they stopped producing due to fitment issues on touring models. None the less curious about these bars. They look great but from a comfort standpoint, what say you?

Peace out.

I have 12" KSTs and they are great. 5'8" and I have no back or neck pain riding several hours. You need to make sure they are adjusted correctly. After I installed, I rode several hundred miles and I felt they were too far forward so I adjusted them back a couple of inches. Now all is good. BTW, this is my 2nd set.

I just had 14" KST bars installed on my '15 SGS about 3 weeks ago and I absolutely love them. I'm about 5'8 with average length arms, and for me, the 14" bars are perfect. I did tilt them back towards me a little, but my arms are so much more comfortable on long rides now. I sit up straight and with my rider back rest on, I can ride for hours with no discomfort.

I have 10" Mayhems and love them, great quality! if I had one single gripe, they are very wide, 1" narrower would be ideal imo

I put 10” on a couple years back, no regrets. If you plan on diy they can be tricky fishing the cables through.

I have the KST 12" bars. I'm 6'0" so, not much taller than you are. The 12s are great and I think the 142 would be better, but I didn't want to lose the wind protection. With the 12s I can ride all day and it's other things that wear me out. As far as the wrist angle, it is very neutral and I find it very comfortable.

I added a new top clamp when the bars slipped on me. Hasn't slipped in over 10k miles with this clamp.

Can't speak to the KST's, and I'm on a Dyna, but....

I currently have 6 different types of handlebars (Wild 1 Chubby 12" drag bars, Khrome Werks 1" / 12" Bobber, Street Bob bars, stock, Carlini 8" drags) in my garage in my quest for optimal hand positioning on the bike. The one that I'm currently using has hit all the buttons. The KhromeWerks Bobber Style Ape., 1.25" / 10" height (12" would easily work as well). I have a little hand injury from a previous accident, and the critical dimension for me was the pitch of the bar where your hand actually grips the bar. The Khrome Werks has a pitch of 30.4 degrees, which is flatter than most that I've used. When I sit on the bike and lay my hands on the grips, it is literally the exact position of how my hand naturally lays.

Good luck on your quest.

Like I mentioned in your mirror thread, I have/had the 12" Mayhem bars on my street glide. Im 5'7" and ended up changing them out for a 14" t bar setup. I got hit on my bike a few years ago and had to have my shoulder reconstructed. I had zero issues with the KST bars they were very comfortable. The 14's are more comfortable to me though.

I have the 10” on my 2011 Ultra. I am 6’ and have had hand, wrist, shoulder and neck injuries/surgeries. I am not sure i will keep these bars or not. I do notice wrist discomfort at times. I also feel they are on the wide side, although that is nature of the beast with the batwing. I would say with your past wrist injury to try your best to test a set before purchase. Maybe by a set from J&P or Dennis Kirk and just hold them without installing. They have very good return policy if not installed.
I have three bikes that i trade off with. The other two (softail and a flh shovel) have 16” apes, which is what most of my bikes end up with through the years. I would like to go taller with this bike but the wide part does not work for me.
Note, i change bars and pipes like most change underwear.

12" on my '16 SG.5' 11".Bar ends come out nice and straight, arms near perfect level, very comfortable, and makes slow speed handling much more stable.I have a slight nerve pinch in my right shoulder/neck,and these don't aggravate them at all.Buy them and enjoy.
