2007 Roadking

New to the forum. Was wondering if the cable to the transmission(six speed cover) is supposed to be tight? 2007 Roadking

What do you mean by "tight" ? Do you struggle to pull it in ? Lube the cables. Not very hard to do. Get an owners manual and if you have an extra pair of hands to help you it's easy.

Sounds like you need to adjust the clutch. Get a manual or check some of the videos on YouTube.

I may be the only one who has no idea what you are talking about. Does your bike have taller than standard handle bars that could make the stock length cable assembly too short? Does the cable pull tight when the steering is full one way or the other? The other possibility is what everyone is talking about, there should be about 1/8 of an inch of free play measured where the cable enters the lever and the "perch" or lever housing. If you have no free movement of the lever before you feel spring pressure, there is an adjuster by the frame down tube that can be adjusted to make the cable sheath shorter making some slack in the cable. Has the clutch hub adjustment been checked lately? If this is all new to you, getting the service manual and reading through that section would invaluable, or find someone familiar with the clutch hub and cable adjustment procedure. None of this a difficult but it is too complicated to explain here. There are lots of Harley maintenance items in youtube and you might get the idea of how to do it by watching one or more of those.
