Default Shocks Upgrade for a Plushier Ride

When you want to improve the ride quality of our baggers, which way should we go first,

1. Rear shocks upgrade first before the front?

2. Fronts before the rear?

3. It’s a must to upgrade both?

Can a substantial improvement be had without resorting to no. 3?

Usually, everyone does rear first, then find out how bad the front feels.

I replaced my stock rear air shocks with a pair of Ohlins S36E. These just have preload adjustment and not the rebound damping adjustment. Much better than stock and no need to check air pressure and carry a pump. Have not done the front forks yet and feel the rear was a worthwhile improvement on its own. Will do the front at some point but no rush for me.

I put Legend Revo A's on the back last winter and felt it was worth the money. Last June I got a set of Legend Axeo for the front but haven't tore into that project yet. Hopefully find time before spring.

Yep, twice. 05 Ultra and current 19 Limited.
For a more plush ride, start with the rear. It’s where most of the weight is felt while riding…AND..if you ride with the wifey/GF, they’ll notice more too.
No rear shock is worth a squat however, unless it’s setup properly…
Fronts are more about evening out the ride, less brake dive and a more planted feel in corners and when pushing the bike.
Stock fronts are mushy all around.

Rear first. And get rid of your 12” and get 13”.
Much easier to change the rear, and eliminates the crushed spine you get from bottoming out.
Then think about fronts at your leisure.

If I spoke perfect English, I would probably be an illegal immigrant in your country by now. LOL. But got too busy earning money to allow me to afford to buy a Harley instead of spending more time perfecting my English…LOL At any rate, “plushier” is a perfectly valid alternative adjective to plushy. Go google it. Cheers !
