now drill a new hole in the front linkage to shorten it by an inch and its even better, the shifter throw is far to long.

Actually, it is pretty tight. The throw seems better and it lands in gear quick.

For about 45 bucks just get 2 of these and keep the stock rod.

yep reducing play with new parts will do that too.

This is something i forgot about. We use to do this on the on the old 4 speed bikes back in the day. Takes a little more power to shift it ,but did work well. I wonder how this would work on my Tri-Glide with a hand shifter (tank shifter really) on it.
