Road Trip--Atlanta to Virginia Beach
The weather cooperated on the ride from Roswell, GA (north Atlanta suburb) to Sandbridge and back. It was actually more comfortable riding in heavy overcast with very occasional light rain on the outbound 589 mile trip, than the bright sun of the return trip.
I am not a serious HOG ABC's of touring participant, but did take a few pics, including this one of the bikeat the Virginia state line on I-85:

And this one in Kitty Hawk, NC at the Wright Memorial:

The bike ran great for the entire trip; about 1,450 miles all told. And the HD cruise control installed in November last year hadn't gotten a real work-out until this trip. And it was well worth the extra work needed to install it on my police model EG. It was very relaxing to set the cruise on the interstates and not worry about LEO's interrupting the cycle of full tank of gas/ride 150 miles/fill-up, restroom, and drink a liter of water and repeat.
The detachable tour pack and passenger pillion are features I like a lot. Load the tour pack for the trip and remove it at the destination for a lighter ride and cleaner look.
What I may remember most about the travel part of the trip is how those familiar interstates and the area around Sandbridge are transformed when I ride the same roads from the seat of the bike and the trip becomes a journey.
And I didn't mind cleaning the bike each morning with a water wash and dry to get rid of the salty dew the bike collected overnight at the beach house--itmeant I had a clean bike to ride that day.
Oh, and travel time each way was the same--11 hours door to door.
