Default RE: Q about seats?

I am on my third Harley since 1996, Fatboy - Wide Glide and now a FLHTCI. Each bike has had the Corbin on it... I live about 1.5 hours from the CA Corbin factory. The first Crobin was bought through the mail with out any problems. The second and Third were what is refered to as a "Ride in Appoitment" We made an appoitment - arrived at 0830 and worked with a seat maker and drove out with our custom seat in the afternoon. In the past few years I have read some real horror storied about Corbins Mail order customer service - All of my dealings have been great - If at all possible I reccomend for anyone wanting a Corbin to do the Ride in Appoitment. You get to watch your seat come to life - ride on it, adjust here, there and get it just right. My wife and have done some long trips and you could not drag my Corbin away from us - We love it - but the Corbin "feel" is not for everyone. Like stated above - it taks some time for your seat to get used to you - I choose Not to have the back rest installed - I use a http://www.backdesigns.com/AB1921000...&Product_ID=28
I felt the Back rest would get in my way - and I have to admit - The Corbin is $$$ enough with out adding the Back support $$$$. Not saying its bad, just be prepared $$$.. Those who have used them prais them

I had a 2003 Heritage Classic with a Mustang -- and loved it. HD backrest would not fit that, but Mustang sells one that does.

I recently bought a 2005 Ultra and found the stock seat to be uncomfortable on longer mileage days. Tailbone got numb, and I was trying to move around to get comfortable. I didn't like the Mustang seats for the Ultra, and though I've not had one, heard that Corbins took a while to get broken in.

New idea: A friend introduced me to Russell Day Long seats. They are custom made from your seat pan, and they do it according to photos of you (and passenger) on bike, weight, height, inseam, etc... It takes about 2 weeks, and you have a custom seat (with leather seating surface if you so choose) and stitching from their choices --- or yours! I just got mine back from them a couple weeks ago and cannot say enough good things about it. They even matched my factory "comfort stitch" pattern I had before.

Check them out on the web. The prices are comparable to Mustang, and cheaper than Corbin.

www.day-long.com -- and no, I don't work for them. Just a satisfied customer.

interesting site {Custom Motorcycle seats} In doing some comparing... Custom shows S1,2,3,4 Seats.. can not find how they differ. price ranges from $520-$655 for Leather inserts (Same as Corbin) and they say the Seat Pan is not included?? and they charge an extra $80 for a ride in appoitment. The Company looks like they build a good seat and not every Seat Co will please all people - Howeve, I have been to Corbin now twice to have seats built for my Wide Glide and then my FLHTC... It is only my opinion - But there is No way a custom seat can be built from a picture of you and you measurments... The Only way it will be a true custom is for you to be there and work with the Builder and test ride the bike Many times with your passanger - Take a little off here, add more there - trial and error is the best way for this to work... Of course the picture and measurments are better than picking one out of a catalog... So, it depends on where a person lives and is it possible to ride there, be it Shasta CA or Hollister or FL... Corbin charges $649 for their Dual Touring FLH seat (no heaters) and there is No extra charge for the Ride in app... I do not pretent to know anything more about seats except what has worked for me and the service I have recieved From Corbin. My next bike will have the Corbin. The "Sweet Spot" truly extends the riding day...

Note = A very close second to the Corbin that I almost tried - Just could not pull my self away from the Corbin Custom = and if I did not like it = then I would end up back at the Corbin = So, I just stayed with a know winner

Man have I got some news for you talk about searchin for the right seat I had an 05 FLHT and I started out with the stock seat first I wanted to look bad so I got the "Badlander" seat what a piec of sh** like sitting on a cinder block!!I put it on rode out the garage for a 10 minute ride came back so fast put it in the car and returned it right to the dealer for a refund. Next off E bay I got a stock seat off an 04 Road Glide a little longer ride 75 miles and I returned that too low no back support. I sold the bike a my new 05 Road King a seat that leaves a lot to be desired looks cool but after a 75 mile ride I had that numb but feeling. The dealers part guru Tom of Barbs Camden County NJ dealership suggested the Sundowner seat for the Road King man he was right the best thing I ever did the most comfortable seat Iv'e ridden on I thought about the Corbin but at almost $500.00 no thanks, the Mustang wasn't that much cheaper but I had to order it and I like to have the option of a no hassle return so I went with the HD Sundowner, Tom you are the man this is theeeee seat you wont be sorry, Bill
