FYI dealer markup @ msrp is 22 percent on bikes and HD pays dealers 2.5 hours for setup, this is fact I promise you. Don’t let a dealer BS you, walk. Sure they deserve to make a profit but buyers don’t deserve to get fuked over just sayin 👍
My dealer said the motor company is raising the surcharge almost $2,000 March 1.
Hahaha... They can stick these new bikes up their a$$ then!! Ridiculous. My dealer said they where raising prices March 1st as well but they said only by a couple hundred. Who knows. Fear tactics.. 🤣
The bottom line is wait it out. Inflation is transitory and the chip shortage will get resolved. We are already building chip and other supply chain manufacturers in the US as we speak.
If it takes waiting a year or so for a new bike then so be it. It's better then losing your *** financially. You won't recoup this money back on a trade in 5 years that's guaranteed!!

while i'm not saying they won't, i am saying that when i hear a dealership say stuff like that, it makes me think of the 'this offer is only good for the next 20 minutes' high pressure sales tactics.

Exactly. It totally turns me off and makes me walk. Also think about it. How is Harley raising prices on the bikes that the dealer already owns sitting on the floor??? The dealerships are playing a shell game and trying to line their pockets right now with this BS!! They're all in on it too. Don't think they all don't talk to each other at dealer events and in meetings. There will be a hand full of good honest dealerships in this madness. Best to find them and give them your money or wait it out.

DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!!!!!
I probably should have paid better attention when this was explained to m, but I believe that Harley corporate owns the bikes on the dealership floor. After a certain time, I think 18 months, comma the dealership has to pay for the inventory they haven't sold and then it's on them.
It seems strange that Harley would be raising prices right now considering they just released all the 22 models with prices barely a month ago. They were too expensive for me then and certainly they are now.
I've had 3 Harley's, all bought used, and that's probably how it will always be. I looked in a lot of dealerships last month and it was really better experience between the games and flat out lies.
They already make a boat load just on the MSRP, then the 1K surcharge on the sticker. Then another 5K? My paid-for King is looking better every year for sure.
I saw a report on the news last week which listed the highest over sticker prices on vehicles in America right now and they listed Cadillac brand as the highest at @ $4500.00 ... Guess they didn't bother to ask their local HD ( High Dollar ) motorcycle dealer

Well regardless how it's being done you will never recoup sur charges and mark up fees back in the value of your bike years down the road.
Wouldn't surprise me if corporate is involved in this scam as well. Jochen Ziets did say last year in an earnings call that Harley will now be concentrating on core bikes and exclusivity. Anytime you here the word exclusivity you think of high prices and aiming more at rich buyers.
The funny thing is they'll get away with this tactic for only so long during the pandemic. Every one is buying recreational vehicles right now because of the YOLO life is short mentality. Once everything goes back to normal its going to blow up in there face. Bubbles always pop. Same with the housing market. And don't be surprised when it blows up in the MOCO face they start looking for a new CEO. Because this same shell game won't work in a normal environment.
And all the gullible people that paid these high prices now will be screwed come trade in time!! You'll see.
I got an email from my dealership yesterday, 40% off baseball caps. Also a blowout sale on home décor, jewelry, barware, and clothing. This could have come from Target.
40% off a $45 baseball cap, which probably costs $3 to make LOL.
