It really depends on the dealership, the area, the current inventory, the time of year. Typically I found September through January is the best time to try and get a good deal. This time of year right now you have to be more vigilant and be able to walk if the deals not good enough and have patience. This time of year it's more about dealer shopping to see who is willing to give you a deal now.

The people who have to have the latest and greatest new model right now are typically buying this time of year. They always get raked over the coals and their pockets picked. Once all those folks buy the sales start to slow down around the Summer time and then the next crowd the more tight with money crowd comes in like me that's haggling for a deal.

Dealers are not raking anyone over the coals, picking pockets or are evil. High priced items are governed by market forces. It has always been this way with vehicles, houses jewelry and so on. The MSRP clear states it is a suggested price, not a required price. When everyone of us sell something, we try to get the most out of it.

Hahaha. Yeah ok. I bet you're a dealer!! Give me an F-ing break. Dealers already make profit from the MSRP price then add in the dealer mark ups that are senseless on top of it.

This is a very confusing thread for me. Decided to buy a Road King in January - for a new one (21 model) I very easily negotiated to $1000 under msrp but decided on a different option. Of the 5 dealers I either visited in person or web researched and called, every one had a whole lot of really desirable used bikes that were over priced normally instead of overpriced as if there was something new going on and they were all willing to negotiate. There were also a lot of nice used bikes available through individual sales on the internet sites.

I'm in the midwest, maybe this is a regional thing?

If we see it, I am curious to see if $6.00 a gallon gasoline will create a short term shortage.

No, just a Harley owner who understands the market economy versus someone who always believes they are a victim.

Any commodity is worth what someone will pay for it. No one is putting a gun to anyone's head to buy anything. Dealers are marking it up because people will pay it. If you were selling it you would too.

Actually I'm the one who understands. You apparently dont. You're just an owner who sounds overly excited that your bike is temporarily worth more. Extreme buyer demand in the current environment will be very short lived with Extremely high inflation. People are already starting to be very careful with their money. The last year was a honeymoon phase for the dealerships. For example Caravana the giant used car dealer just reported this morning they are now seeing demand destruction across the board. They stated buyers are now walking away from high prices causing sales to drop.

Get ready. The bubble will burst. All these high priced vehicles won't be priced high much longer. Have patience folks. Trust me.. Don't listen to the fear mongering. ⏳👍

Interesting times. Locally there sure seems to be a glut of nice used bikes and plenty of new ones, but you have to wonder what $6.00 + gas will do to bike sales. Could be that economic pressure will put a lot more bikes on the road and shift buyers away from deluxe models.
