Took a trip to Skyline Drive yesterday with some other HDF members. Did a total of 533 miles. Actually between yesterday and Friday I racked up around 725 miles. Plenty of highway riding at 80mph. Crusied nice. But in the mountians is where it really shined. Took alot of those twisties faster than I could ever think about on the Street Glide. Real nice riding. The stock seat is very comfy for me and my wife. No complaints at all. The only gripe I have is the bars. My hand and wrist are still killing me. Still gotta work on that. Well time for the 1k service.
There are several bar choices for your choosing. I went with the Road King Custom bars. Some folks like the Heritage Softail bars. Some like the Dyna Wide Glide bars. Bottom line: those stock bars are crap!
I have short little stubby arms, so I wanted something with a bit more pullback. I went with the Chubby 517s. I know you are on a budget now, so those are probably out of your range. I know several people who have put the wideglide bars on their RGs and are very happy with them. PhilM has a set and he has posted about them before. I think he said you need to get a certain year model?????.....anyway, you could search about them and get the lowdown.
I feel your pain in the wrist believe me. I've read many a post and still have my stock bars lol. I'll eventually make a change but in the midst of changing out a few other things and spending alot of cash. Presently in Cancun on my honeymoon and spending even more lol.
