when you are trying to input the pin, you've got to make sure that you do not have the fob on you. when you turn your ignition on, it should automatically prompt you for the pin, no turning on/off, etc.
i suspect you were having problems because your fob was too close.
the FOB was in the house away from the detached garage.
yes they should give 3 fobs, lifetime oil changes and tires for free.
My new ford has up to two free FOB a year if lost. Free oil changes,Tire rotation and all filters for 3 year. getting there. A lot more tech in it and about the same coat as the bike.
And it came with 2 no programing charge.
When attempting a PIN disarm, it is important that the bike remain motionless during the entire procedure. The system remains armed until the PIN disarm is completed in it's entirety.
If the alarm is activated prior to completing the PIN disarm procedure, it will be necessary to start all over from the beginning.

that may explain it! I will try it again this afternoon. I was sitting on the bike just after unlocking the bars and standing it up
Can't help myself, it is amazing what information one can get by READING THE MANUAL. The professional thieves use a lift that will extend from a van or truck and just lift the bike and pull it inside...in less than 30 seconds. Then they can crack the security system at their leisure somewhere else. Why not just put the security system in the maintenance or transport mode and forget about it? Just use the key lock or a brake disc device if you are that paranoid? The pros will get it regardless.
so just because the pros will get it regardless means that you should completely disable the system? that makes no sense. if someone wants in your house, they're gonna get in, do you still lock your front door? if someone wants your car bad enough, they're gonna get it. do you take your keys with you or just leave them in the ignition?
Just look at like its a skill to learn. And practice it regularly, one day you'll need it. I live near to a popular cruising spot I've seen at least a half dozen HD fobs on the side of the road in the past two years since I moved here.
