I agree. Pay once cry once. You want things to fit perfect then I’d go with the original. Pretty much everything is suppose to fit the original perfect. That worth the extra $50?

I laugh when you spend 25k on a bike and then cry when you spend 300 bucks in extras. Money is gone already just spend spend spend

If you don't want the docking hardware on your bike "Mustang" has pillion options with integrated backrest.

If you're mechanically inclined at all removing the docking hardware and passenger foot pegs takes about 20 minutes tops.

Don't buy the cheap sh*t. If you ain't gonna go HD look at Hogworkz.

the two bolts highlit are where the docking kit mounts. take those 2 bolts out, and you can remove the special plug that hd has and install the docking kit. when you're done, remove those 4 bolts, put the covers back in, and snug up the bolts again until next time.

with the docking hardware on, you have 6 mounting points (3 per side). the shock mount, the front mount of the kit, and the rear mount of the kit. depending on what you are attaching, and whether it is for solo or two up, would determine which mounting points you use.

I have a HD sissy bar, HD backrest pad and the HD Stealth luggage rack in gloss black available if you are interested. All are in like new condition or I wouldn't sell it. We just purchased a tour pack so it's not needed.

like lp, i have the chinese docking hardware, and have replaced the bushings with the genuine hd bushings and it works pretty good.
The instructions for HD's docking hardware calls for red loctite on those four bolts. If it was my wife on the back, I wouldn't skip that step. Loctite is saying localized heat of approximately 480 degrees fahrenheit is required for disassembly, so it would likely take longer than a couple of minutes to remove the hardware.

Red only because it's supposed to be a permanent mount; however, and it's just my opinion, Blue is completely fine.
Whats funny is that HD doesn't even call for thread locker on footboards, handlebars or the seat and those are pretty important.
Plus there are four bolts doing the job and you'd know any one of them were loose as soon as you put your back against it.
I doubt anyone is going to fall off the bike because you didn't use Red. To each their own though. Just sayin.

I have the HD set up on my Road King, and quite honestly, I don't believe it is hideous at all. In fact, it looks awesome.

I realize that looks are in the eye of the beholder, however, and would never knock anyone else's choice.

The HD system is a quick disconnect. I do have to tap the disconnects with a rubber hammer to get it free though. It is a firm fit. This isn't a problem for normal maintenance. I also have the driver backrest that snaps in under the passenger grab strap. My wife love this system.

commander47 me thinks it looks pretty good on your ride. It also looks like you've been blasted by some pollen.

the pollen here is outrageous. It just covers everything. Can't even leave the garage door open for 10 minutes.
