Anyone on here had both seats for comparison? I have the sundowner and am completely happy with the comfort just hate the looks. Thinking the maverick lines look better but don't want to take a step backward in comfort. Any direct comparisons in both rider and passenger comfort would be appreciated.
The LePera Maverick is going to be really firm compared to the Sundowner. I have the Monterey solo seat for my King and a buddy has a Sundowner. If you like a firm seat, LePera makes a great product. The Monterey is probably the solo version of the Maverick.
I have a Monterey seat. It's on a firm side, but it's comfy. If you want a plushy, couch seat where you sink into, LePera is not the brand for you. Monterey is same as Maverick. It was actually my first choice, but then I found Monterey which gives me an option to remove the passenger seat.
Quality, you can't beat LePera, in my opinion. I went with full leather without gel. The seat is very comfortable.
--JUST-- installed my LePera Maverick w/back rest two weeks ago. Have sat on it in the garage, but riding season still hasn't arrived...
I've had two Sundowners. Great Harley-Davidson seat, but of course cheaper made. Cushy.
The Maverick is nice and low compared to the brick heated seat of my FLHTKSE w/heat. The heat was nice, but my short legs didn't like it. I'm sure this new Maverick will be awesome. I'm told there is about a 1000 mi breakin.
To add: if you order direct from LePera, you can get black hardware instead of chrome. I like chrome, but the motorcycle is blacked out.
Cost wise: Sundowner. Quality: LePera.
FWIW I've done many 1000+ mi days on a Sundowner.
I've had the Maverick Daddy Long Legs on a Road Glide and a Heritage. I've also ridden with the standard Maverick on a Electra Glide. While at first I thought it was going to be too firm for me, it didn't take more than a day to discover I was riding without even thinking about the seat. I can ride for hours and remain comfortable. Good luck .
