I recently picked up a set of used saddlebags that have Harley lights on the back attached with their 3m tape. Has any ever removed those lights? I am wondering if the tape may destroy the finish during removal.
Heat gun will do the job or hair dryer. The residual tape will be easy to get off. Be very careful is you use any liquid sticker/tape removal like Goo Gone as it may dull your paint/clear coat. Try not to use any. You should be able to get all the tape off by using the heat gun. It will not damage your paint.

I agree 100 percent with what dasmotorrad said. Any chemical could damage the paint and clear coat.
I have used WD-40 for adhesive removal on various things with good results. Used it to get rid of the residual adhesive left when I removed the HD stick-on tin foil like fake Carbon Fiber looking covers that the PO had someone put on the inner fairing on my 14SG. Took some work, but no evidence of damage on the gloss black finish at all.

I agree, the fake carbon fiber thingies looked way better in the bottom of a garbage can than on your inner fairing.
This is is what i used for same situation, used heat to get the bulk off, goo gone wasn't working for the residue so i tried this, worked great, but the first couple minutes i was freaking out i would ruin my paint !
