We finally had a day that my wife and I could get away from the house and kid. My brother and his wife were also free and so was a friend. We headed out to the White Mountains in northern NH. Weather was perfect, mid 80's and sunny.
We took Rte 93 all the way to Lincoln where the Kancamangus Highway starts. We crossed the mountainsand followed the river into Conway. We then went southaround Lake Winnipesaukee and then headed to home.
All in all it was one of the best rides I ever had. Best of all? My wife really enjoyed it.
Grand total, 262 miles! The second longest single day ride I have done.
Today (Monday), I was a little sore, she wasn't at all! Got to love the touring bikes!
See you are a FF - been on the job now getting close to 35 years - this is my last... Wife #1 was a bitch - #2 (15 years now) best friend - Wifes loves the back seat and I make it my goal on each ride that she enjoys it - meaing, I buy what ever it takes to keep her happy on the back - Heated clothing has been the best buy yet.... As long as they enjoy the ride - they want to continue - wife has a friend that does not like to ride with husband - he loves speed and beer - I am past those days by about 30 years... fun while they lasted though - lol
You are blessed to have wives that enjoy riding, guys. My wife suggested a 640 mile (one-way) trip to see my sister and her kids over the July 4th week. Our longest day was 393 miles - I suggested we go a couple of times around the block to make it an even 400 for the day, but somehow that didn't seem right so we settled for 393.
Her birthday's the 20th... you know what she wants? A chrome inner primary! Didn't bat an eye when I told her she was looking at $400 plus counting the install. Says she knows I'd get the bike in a divorce but she doesn't care. Heck, I'd be CRAZY to let her go - for a million reasons - not just for the chrome!
EGK
Lucky you. I throughtthat if I could get my wife on the back of my RG we could start going on weekend trips to Vegas, Rocky Point, etc. She was just starting to come around. But a rider got "T-Boned in frount of her the other day, and she won't eeven look at mine now
We did 324 miles yesterday with our club .. a nice trip up to Big Bear Lake for lunch. It was pretty warm most of the trip until we got up to the lake which is about 7000 ft. I know when it's time for a break .. she smacks me on the helmet and says .. butt break please! Usually that occurs about the 65 to 75 mile range. All in all she's a very good passenger and the best thing was .. she promised to Love,Honor and spend lots of money on Chrome when we got married in '02. She said the "Obey" thing was a little much!! We just got home from Sturgis yesterday, 1536 miles in 5 days, My wife was on the bike with me for every one of thosemiles and I think she takes the ride better than I do.
