Don't put sealer on the threads if replacing the sending unit!! The M8s use a 1/2-20 straight thread and have an O ring seat. The sender should come with a new O ring. If not IIRC they are -013, use Viton..
Second. If using the original oil pump. you might want to replace it. IMO it's the pressure relief valve is not seating all the way. I have a 17 RK and have added a mechanical gauge, Occasionally when the motor gets real hot the oil pressure will start to fluctuate, sometimes the pressure light will come on and for some reason when it goes back to good pressure the light doesn't go off. It's likely either do to BCM ECM not sending out a message that the oil pressure is good or the message gets dropped.. This, IMO, was the reason for first oil pump change and not sumping.
