That depends. Do you mean move them back away from you or closer to you? Turn the bars all the way to each side and check for clearance.

You will have to remove the ignition cover and your MIGHT possibly loosen the bolts with a rounded Allen key. But, safer way without stripping them would be to remove the front fairing, unbolt the ignition cover, and then unbolt the inside front fairing and move it forward a little to expose the bolts. You will see them and have access to them.

I have been able to get access to the two lower bolts on the bar clamp by pulling the lower fairing. I loosened those two and I was able to rotate the bars.

As “oko” said, you can disconnect the ignition cover, and move toward the tank, you don’t need to remove it, and you will have enough clearance to get to the 2 aft bar clamp bolt, but, you will need an extended reach ball end hex tool. I did the same thing - got on Amazon and ordered a set of 6” long 3/8” socket ball end hex keys. It was cheaper to buy a set than the one needed for those bolts……If you watch a few videos about installing bars, kst customs has a few very good videos, you will see what we are talking about.

Dont forget to check for clearance bars to your tank once adjusted - full left and full right lock. Best idea is to check how much clearance you have turned to full lock before you adjust, to give you an idea of how much space you are working with.

I just did this on my 21 SGS. I used an Allen I cut down so it would fit under to loosen the two Allen bolts. Worked great and did not have to loosen fairing.

Checkout the kst video - as I recall in the last 10 mins, he talks about future adjustments, exactly what you are looking for.

then, cover the tank, take your time, and use the right tool - don’t shoot your self in the foot trying to “make” a tool work, it may cost you time, effort and money in the long run….

report back - let us know how it goes.
