When will I ever learn???

I knew about lube just never heard it called fluid in a cable.

Thats why most folks will "lube" the clutch cable with the same stuff they got in the tranny.
What happened to mine, was the clutch cable is run so tight, on an Ultra, that with the movement of theengine on the rubber mounts, and the overall vibration of the motorcycle, the cable got caught in between the brake lines that are secured to the frame, and the bottom of the oil pan on theengine. To also help with this wear, there is an unused screw boss for an exhaust bracket, in the pan on that corner that has squared edges on it.
So time and mileage had worn a hole in the outer sheathing of the clutch cable, and the transmission fluidthat is inherentley in the cable began showing up on the ground. What made it worse at the time, I was using Syn3 in all holes and so, I had Syn3 on the ground.
At frst inspectionI was sure it was the o-ring on the cable ferrel at the tranny endcap that failed, and that was where the leak was from. But when Bob looked under the bike he found the wear spot in the cable.
