I don't need a isolated drive system .... Not one thing wrong with my '07 Ultra Classic ... Best built bike on the road!

I hate to sound like a jerk but hey Ted? If your going to do some Harley bashing how about doing it on the Gold Wing site! Jeeezzz![&o]
After reading some of his posts for the past several weeks, I've been wondering the same thing. I even remarked about this once a couple of weeks ago, but after a second thought deleted those remarks, thinking it was just an anomaly. Yet I've seen other threads he's contributed to where his input was pertinent and useful. That said, when Ted or anyone else can't say anything constructive, perhaps the best idea would be to say nothing at all. I lurk on the BMW sport-touring forum and occasionally post a note, but I always keep the dialog constructive and would never bash a BMW on that site, even if warranted.

People own Harleys for a reason, and don't care if they don't measure up to whatever Ted and others see in their selected brand of MC. HD's have their virtues and vices, as does a **** or any other brand you can name.

Interesting that HD finally "caught on" to this NEW device that metric bikes have used since the 60's - LOL.
Thanks, Ted, that was helpful, and the second instance of bashing in about a week from you on this forum. It is a fact that the Japanese have "caught on" to this "NEW" (your caps) technology a bit late, too, as if I'm not mistaken the British originally patented the idea (Norton or BSA, IIRC). BTW, I don't recall seeing anyone refer to this as a "new device," except you of course, and it isn't referred to as such in any HD material I've seen.

If you can't keep the dialog constructive, why not migrate to a **** forum and continue your bashing over there? You'll be welcome, I'm sure, especially with your undoubtedly large repertoir of juicy stories as an HD service writer.

They have used it for years on the v-rod, Harley will probily adopt a lot of things in the future to stay in business, and may even become honda like with radiators. Honda is just lucky harleys cost so much and were such in demand for many years because they built their lagging company up on the paychecks of those who setteled for harley look a likes when they couldn't get the real mccoy.

He rides a winger but works at a hd dealer and posts a lot on here. Just shows I guess the honda forums must be as non interesting as their bikes

Kinda like the way the Japanese manufacturers have been 'catching on' to the styling of cruisers coming out of Milwaukee for the past 20 years?

I think it is simply a matter of not-so-subtle proselytizing. His signature makes reference to HP and TQ numbers while reminding us that the lofty numbers were acquired with "no mods." We're supposed to be impressed, and quite frankly I am--yet it won't drive me or most others here into the Honda dealership pining for a good deal on a **** (what we affectionately call them here in the South). After all, if HP/TQ numbers were the primary goal we'd all be buying Boss Hosses, which have even more HP and TQ, also with "no mods." Like Ted has said so eloquently in the past, ride what you like, and that's presumably what we're all doing--but most of us are not here to bash another's bike or proselytize with a mission to aggressively persuade others over to our preferences.

In one recent thread the topic was whether or not the OP should buy a ****, and Ted's comments were appropriate there since the OP was asking for opinions on HD vs. the Honda. He praised his bike and espoused its manifold virtues, quite predictably and accurately. But where the line should be drawn is when it is suggested that our bikes are deficient simply because they don't measure up to some arbitrary standard, like a near-total lack of sound. Or, that somehow a recent addition to the HD accessory line-up (notice I didn't use the word "new") was laughable because the British invented it several decades ago. Well, let's take a look at Ted's ****. It has two wheels, an internal-combustion engine, a drive shaft, and many other parts, the vast majority of those designs not invented by Honda. They are nonetheless good inventions, and it is to Honda's credit they have accumulated these borrowed designs into a good platform.
