I put the fangs on. I hate that they work so well.
My new to me 17 Road King has only one flaw, the wind buffeting. Brain scrambling head bobble above 70 MPH. I begrudgingly installed a set of e-bay chrome fangs today. (I once installed them on my old e-glide a few years back and didnt notice much of an improvement, but everyone here swears that they are magic....so I decided to try again.)
Yep. As you guys have perpetually stated, they work. SO much so that I started to notice a difference at 20 MPH. I brought it up to a sustained 85 tonight and other than a few crosswinds, I was comfortable and happy.
Sure they look like some gaudy ghetto Cadillac accessory mated with Elton Johns fashion sense.........but they honestly make a HUGE difference. If anyone here is having buffeting issues on their FLHR, this IS the mod to make.
I can tell a difference when I have them on my RK. The bike is still stock and runs pretty hot in 90 degree stop and go town traffic. I take them off during the summer months.
I fought buffeting on my EG the entire time I owned it. I ran 3 different windshields on that bike and noticed no improvement. I like the idea that a windshield would drastically change my experience, but the overwhelming opinion here is that all the discomfort comes from the forks, not the windshield.
Id love to experiment with different windshield designs, but they are expensive and if it doesnt work, Im now stuck with a giant part that takes up too much space. (I still have a 10 inch Freedom shield for my FLHT that saw exactly 2 miles of ride time sitting in my garage that I cant give away)
well on my rk i fitted a tank lift, Home made 1.5 in i would have gone 2 in but couldn't afford taller mirrors the reduction in buffeting was very noticeable. So i went 1.5 in at front and 5/8in at rear of tank. That was the size spacer i had. 2 plusses the engine runs cooler more space above rocker covers and much easier to polish covers. I am 6' 3"

Will that fit a 22 Street glide?
If so I would be interested.
