What a difference a Map makes!
My 05 RK Classic has a Stage 1 AC, SE HD slip-ons, and HD map.
When I added a PCIII USB, IN used the dealer-recommended map. That map was for an 05 touring bike with V&H Oval slip-ons, Stage 1, and AC.
Today, I had a chance to see a set of ThunderCone slip-ons, and realize that these pipes resemble the HD SE slip-ons more than the V&H Ovals. Everything about those pipes seem identical.
So I changed the map to the Thundercone slip-ons, SE AC.
Holy Cow! My bike is rocket -fueled, and absolutely NO Popping!
The map # M807-151. Check it out.

Sounds Good man.
Did your pipes glow just out of the heads with the SE slip ons and SE air cleaner?
Mine do after a short ride. I'm told it's normal and everything looks good by the dealer.
I'm wondering if a different map will fix this.
Your popping, was this on decel or intermittently on accel?

Anthony, the maps supplied with the PC units are a base map with general values to get you close to proper performance. If your setup differs they tell you to find a map that closest resembles your setup. Most of the maps are for the most used setups and usually the pipes are the biggest factor. Just have to find the map with the pipes that have the closest intrnal and external dimensions.
It seems you have found your closest match. The only other real alternative is to get it dynoed at a reputable shop. Mine cost $195 and it was well worth the expense. My bike runs smoother and the power was increased somewhat. My bike ran OK before the dyno tune, but it was real finicky about the octane used and pinged most of the time. Now all my worries are gone and the bike runs like I expect it to.

Yesterday, I had SE slip ons, SE air cleaner, and a Vance and Hines Fuel Pak added to my 04 Road King. It's a new bike. It finally has some power and runs much better. It's an amazing difference.
One thing I noticed is while upshifting, the bike seems to hold the revs in between gears a little longer. This seems to give a smoother shift without any "jerk" or clunking.
Also noticed practically no vibration. It's very smooth.
I compared the 2 maps, and it seems that there's more fuel in the mid-range.

I agree. Now I can easily go to 30mph in 1st without effort. I have 12000 miles on my 04 and this is the best it has ever run. i recommend it to anyone. the new SE slip ons also sound great.
