107 M8 knocking noise on brand new engine 2022 Road King
Took delivery of a new 2022 Road King FLHR 107 M8, 2 miles - two days ago. Now I've gently put 80 miles on it while following break-in procedures, doing mostly city riding - below 35MPH.
Now I'm starting to hear a knocking noise when accelerating into 2000-2200 RPM in 1,2,3rd gear (I've shifted into 4th only a couple times, and have not used 5th and 6th gear).
Noise tends to disappear at 2500RPM and up.
I checked the oil level and it appears to be low...
Besides low oil level anyone would have any idea why the knocking noise? Any indicators would be appreciated - before I reach out to the dealer.
This is my first Harley, I guess I'm not used to it yet - tho I love the bike and its low-end power

Would query your run in procedure. Town is not the place to do an initial breakin. Commenting on torque which is lugging is not good. Take her out and use the gears dont have to rev hard. Stop and have a drink and let her cool then heat her up. the heat cycling is what you want to do. Measure oil as in book if it is low fill but dont overfill !!! Most importantly take it to the dealer and get it checked, its under warranty.

Quit sweating it. Get through your "break in procedure" and ride that thing. 2000 is lugging it, that is all you are hearing
Check oil after you turn it off after running and it's hot. Fill to full mark on stick. Stick probably says on stand. Besure bike has not been modified like lowered or new stand.
It's broke in. Run it but if it is knocking, something could be loose. Take it to the dealer. The so called break in is for just in case the mother ship missed something. Not to wear in engine.
As manufacturerd, they are so close, actually if all is good, they are so called break - in is done in a 100 miles .
Doesn't matter how the first 100 miles is done. They don't want you doing 100mph and it blows up from a faulty casting.
OP it sounds like your lugging the motor - its that simple... Go out of town, put some time on the bike, open her up and ride the thing... I have to ask, is this your 1st HD?
At the factory in York, the bikes are run in a test cell and are electronically connected to a computer to monitor everything, if everything checks out at speed they are released, the bikes aren't pampered on this run up, especially the CVOs. If think there is a knock set up a time for the dealer to investigate. At least you will have an R.O. on file if it blows up.
