Just got back from the maiden voyage with the DTT system installed..............and it ran great. I was expecting some sputtering or hesitation, but it ran like a champ. At first I could smell some excess fuel, but after a few minutes it seemed like the system had adjusted and it was all gone. The guy I bought the system from had HQ 575 cams, 95", headwork, and a Fatcat............so the map in there was already pretty close to what I needed. The system will tune down to my build, and it seems like it already has since it's running so good right now. I have to say it's already running better then it did with the PCIIIusb installed, it's starting easier, and it is idling much smoother, and the acceleration is very smooth.
I have to say thanks to PhilM again for talking me thru the initial setup last night, 90 minutes on the phone and we were all ready to go.........but it was 10pm and I was heading to bed.
Now it's time to go out to the garage and apply the settings, and see how it runs tomorrow when I go to work.
Has anyone with this system ever put their bike on a dyno after installation and adjustment period ?
I'm curious to see what the results were. I know my seat of the pants dyno isn't very accurate.
Even if I don't gain any power at all, it's just the peice of mind knowing that the AFR is dialed in to what I want at a given position at all times.
Just in the first day of having it installed, the idle is much smoother, and the power is already smoother..........that alone makes it worth it to me.
Someday, if I run across Dr. Dyno again and he has some spare time, I will put it back on the dyno to see how it's doing.
Good to hear that you like the improvements. The autotune setups are simply amazing. I went the TMax route but after a little tweaking, it runs great. I too was expecting some popping or hesitation at first but there were none. Good move Steve.
If it's running this good after the first ride, I can't wait to see how it's running after it's really tuned in.
No pinging either............that alone is a huge bonus. I tried to make it ping last night.....5th gear at 1800rpm and I rolled on it hard, didn't ping a bit.
I'm wondering what the plugs look like running the DTT, after I had my bike dynoed tuned using a sert my plugs still look bone white, sounds like the DTT is the way to go.
