Default New clutch not releasing normal?

Hey guys I just put a new Barnett extra plate clutch in my 16 RGS when I had to replace the transmission and now it doesn't fully release when I stop. I can hold it still with the brakes but it also makes it hard to find neutral. Tonight I'm in my first longish ride with the new clutch and transmission and the transmission is generating more heat than it should. I used the standard HD fluid that you can use in the motor tranny and primary. I also soaked the clutch plates in the fluid overnight before installing them. Any ideas? I damned sure don't want to have to pull that thing again

BTW when I say the tranny is hotter than it should be I mean it's hotter than the exhaust is

Wayne, sorry I can't offer any real help here. I installed that Barnett Kevlar extra plate kit in my '08 FLHT. Wee bit touchy getting the release dialed in where I like it, But I did finally get there. Minimal clunk going into first, shifts easy, neutral usually real easy to get. Did the same procedures you did, but the Barnett instructions suggested using ATF instead of the usual oil.

I been thinking about it this morning and it hit me that when I was putting it back together the clutch rod (I guess that's what you call it) was a little stiff to get that end plate on. I had to get one edge of the snap ring started then push the other side down to get it in. Is this creating to much tension and keeping the clutch just a bit engaged? I don't see where that would cause unusual transmission heat though
