yep we do.
either it is mechanically above your level of experience
or you have not bought the appropriate service manual.
Which you need to buy immediately.
clutch cable 1/2 way down in front of the down tubes is a rubber
cover. slide it back, loosen the adjuster there (1/2 and 9/16 wrench)
until enough free play exists in cable at lever to undo the handle and
cable from each other.
throttle and cruise (if equipped).
remove aircleaner cover.
mark the cables so you get the right one in the right place on re assembly.
manually rotate the throttle shaft cable attachment eccentric till you can disengage the cables from the notch.

rome304: I applaud your desire to work on your '07 Street Glide, but if you want to avoid a tow job transporting your dissassembled or misassembledbike to a local dealership or indy to put it right, buy the '07 HD Service Manual for Touring models. List price is ~$58, and surely some HD store near Long Beach has one for sale.

If you are asking for help withthe clutch cable, throttle/idle cables, etc. now, you will also be asking for help with the ignition switch. And then you will need advice on how to properly re-install all of those important cables, bleed the brake lines after the master cylinder is reinstalled, etc.

I removed and replaced my inner fairing about two months ago and it took a full day using the Service Manual. Happily, the job was very straightforward, required no special tools on my '04 EG, and everything works great after reassembly.

Perhaps it's a man-thing; our reluctance to read directions/ask for help. But when it comes to the operating systems on a Harley (like the clutch, front brake, throttle, etc.), even experienced auto techs rely on the HD service manual to do the kind of project you are undertaking if they haven't done it before.

Just swapped all mine last night, service manual is a handy piece of gear. There are directions on here if you search in the right place.

What are you trying to do? If you just need to move them & not change 'em you could just unbolt the clamps at the handlebar.............

Nope, he is removing the inner fairing (probably to have it painted[8D]) can't unbolt atthe bars. I agree that if you are a first timer then you need the service manual. Once you have done it a few times, piece of cake.

Also check out the Fix My Hog dvd. Well worth the money. I just need to get a tv/dvd player hooked up in the garage near the bike when I'm viewing it.

rome: The service manual will pay for itself on this one job by 400%; a dealer wanted $240 to swap my inner fairing.

Since you will have the throttle/idle/clutch cables off their housings/perch, it's a good time to lubricate them.

When you go to the dealer to purchase the Service Manual, purchase a couple extra of the brass ferules that hold the throttle and idle cables in the grip; these are very small, easily dropped and very hard to find. Why interrupt the reassembly by having to look for the dropped ferule or, more likely, run to the dealer for a replacement? They are inexpensive and cheap "project interruption insurance."

Some folks take digital pictures as they progress through projects like this to help with reassembly. I didn't, but did take pics of my bike just to see what it looked like without outer or inner fairings.

Also, although the swap can be done by one person, I was glad to have an extra pair of hands when removing the inner fairing and installing its painted replacement.

Good luck with your project, and post pics when you are done.
