Default Replacing throttle cable help....

How in the world do you remove the throttle cable from the handle bar mount? I looked and played with that thing for about 30 minutes trying to figure it out. And how hard is it to replace the clutch cable? I already have it off the lever. THANKS

Your gonna hear this eventually, so i might as well tell you politely. A service manual is a must, well worth the money. Will answer all your questions. I would copy and paste to you from an 06 service manual, but i dont know if it will help. If you want it just PM me privately. The powers that be frown on bootlegging manuals.

To answer your question, you basically have to force it out. Whenever I worked at the factory in Kansas City, I was amazed to see that when cables would need to be changed, the mechanics would just have to set and work it out. I have done it as well, and believe you me, it is a HUGE PITA, but basically you just have to pull really hard and work it out.

I haven't changed the cables but did take apart my control when I changed the bars. Just remove the screws that join the upper and lower half of your control and gently seperate them, beware...there are some bits in there that will fly out if your not careful, once you get those out of the way it will be obvious how to slide the cable out of the housing.
Then just put it back together the way it was, again, I can't stress the importance of carefully removing everything and noting where all the bits fit in as your taking it apart so you know where they fit back in when putting it back together.
Hope this helps, at least until you get a manual.

Default Cables

Loosen the tensioning nut all the way on the cable. Open the clamp, remove the ferrule from the slot in the grip. If yours has a nut on the cable hardware where it enters the clamp loosen it and pop the cable out. If it doesn't have the nut just pop it out, force it it will come.
