I have an 08 Road Glide with about 1800 miles now. Bike is outstanding, I have zero issues or complaints. No abnormal trans. noise, not a sputter or hiccup from the motor, heat is not bad altough the primary cover gets way hot. I just filled up and am getting about 45 mpg and I ride like an idiot. I have no high speed wobble dispite doing 90 to 100 mph sweepers for several miles. Brakes are by far best ever on a Harley, I just sold an FJR1300 and I think brake feel is on par. I adjusted the controls to fit me and am very comfortable n the bike. I ride as low as 60mph in 6th gear and the motor dos'nt apper to be lugging. Overall the bike is better than I expected and I may leave it stock it runs so well. I rode several 07s before I bought my 08 and feel the 08 was worth the extra money for me. I ride with a friend with an 07 Road Glide and while working on his bike you can tell that the 08s have a lot of small deferances. This is definatly not my first HD having owned four others the last being an FXDX, it is my first FL series and my best Harley so far. My Road Glide actually works very well as a motorcycle and my daily transportation.
Only 630 or so miles on my '08 Ultra at the moment. No problems, noises, etc. The heat is there, but I don't think it's bad and from what I understand, will get better as the miles build up a bit more and the 1000 mile service is done; replacing oil with synthetic. My wife loves the comfort and ride....keeps commenting on it. She does have a problem with the heat on her ankle on the right side.....but she understands this will get better. With the 1000 mile service I'm adding an oil cooler, and that's it for any mods to do with performance for quite some time. Somewhere down the road will add some true duals, in part for a better sound over the stock pipes.....but that's way down the road somewhere.
Yea, everybody is entitled to their opinion. To me black is bland. You must be one of those guys that has to make up for other issues in going for the manly black and only black. Don't get me wrong, certain scoots look great with the right black and chrome combo but that bat wing, plastic mirrors and all blacked out looks like cr_p. Again, everyone's opinion.
