Please help me out
If you want to stay with the same 12" length and 3" of stroke, the $999 Ohlins might have a slightly different components, like internal valving and the shocks are a smidge slimmer. It also has adjustable rebound damping. And it's part of Ohlins Blackline and the performance is a smidge better. You're getting into top-tier territory with these. Here's some specs.

I know you've said before that you do a lot of 2 up riding, but if you are going to be doing solo riding as well it would be worth it to get the adjustable shock. As others have said there are things you skimp on and things you shell out the cash for. Suspension and seat being two of the top items.
Appreciate it and I thought same 180$ is not worth it. I feel I might just buy the new same type shock. Is the ride difference that much of the difference between this model and $999 model shock? As for now I am considering Ohlins, Legend and Bitubo and yes definitely would like to spend my money wisely and get the best value for the money. Adjustment without tools would be great but is not something I have to have.
I’m a big guy and just sub 300…and ride 2 up freequently. The better shocks really shine 2 up.
I’ve never used Bitbuo, can’t comment.
Never used Legends rear. I currently have Legends front…and with my dissatisfaction with them, I won’t use Legends for anything.
Burbur, here’s something you’re really going to have to account for…and most likely sooner, rather than later.
A TON of us here have said it. Once you improve the factory rear…you will quickly and painfully notice how bad the factory front is.
And….you’ll want to remedy it as well.
Just keep that in mind for budgetary reasons… I promise no “I told ya so” later down the road….

I’ve used several shocks. If I was in the same ballpark of 1K as you, I’d go with either Ohlins, Russ Weirnmont RS1 or Pro Action. I have owned and used all 3.

No experience with Super Shox. But I would only take them if you think you can really live without the adjustability. Remember that suspension is one area you don't want to compromise. Don't mean to make the decision even harder, but say you by these and then end up realizing you want the adjustability. You be out the difference between what you buy the Super Shox for and whatever you end up getting for them if you sell them. Then you end up spending the money on the Legends (or insert whatever brand) anyway. To me this in one of those "buy once, cry once" scenarios.
I’ve read a lot of good about Super Shox… however, again…if they need a rebuild, (Can they be rebuilt?) how much are you really saving?
My advice, contact Super Shox, tell them you’re thinking about buying a pair and they may need to be rebuilt…. What does that look like from a price and timing standpoint?
Are the SS sprung for your weight or are you compromising?
I’ve never used ‘em, I’ve read plenty where people are happy.
As long as they’re in good shape, my guess is you can try it…don’t like it, sell ‘em and not lose much.
Before I spent 1K on rear legends, there are several other brands I’d buy as I listed above. That’s me…never had rear legends again, just not happy with Fronts and the rear Ohlins I have are still the best I’ve used.
