Everybody is free to choose the level of risk they are comfortable with... some go ATGATT, and some wear shorts and sneakers... all have their reasons....

I had a neighbor back around the early '90s. It was before CA passed their helmet law. I always wore boots, long pants, and my leather vest... but never a helmet...
My neighbor had a '90 Kawaski ZX11, and that bike was faster than hell.....! He bragged about his exploits at speed on that bike, and never missed the opportunity to show me his $600 full face helmet and tout its safety features..
He would always give me crap about, "What's your life worth?" What's your brain worth?", etc...
Then at least ten times after giving me crap about not wearing a helmet, he would don his full face helmet, and haul butt away on his bike wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and numerous times, flip flops.....
I never bothered to point out his hypocrisy, I would just shake my head in disbelief...
I live by the old saying, "Never try to teach a pig to sing, it just wastes your time and annoys the pig....."

Came up on a ricer that got clipped splitting lanes who was in shorts and a tank top. ALL of his skin was white. The white you get when when you remove the top 5 layers of skin and just befor you become a 6' tall walking scab. His whole body started "wheeping". Had my dirt bikes in the F250 offered to take his bike home and drop him at the hospital but he was in shock and said he was fine.

I don't generally concern myself with what other grown men/women wear when doing any sort of activity. I wear shorts on occasion and shoes almost exclusively. Some people don't like that; I tend not to care what some people don't like. I also accept the level of risk I am taking in doing so.
