Default 10k Service Cost? $810

What have you all been charged for 10k service? I thought it was $500 or so. Being charged 5 hours labor and $205 in parts $810.. Thanks

All depends on location, location and location. Try a different dealer if you don't like the price.

For those that have had it done please let me know if 5 hours labor and 200 in parts (fluids plugs and gaskets) seem in line.

When I had my 10K done by my dealer the labor was $60/hr. Now it's $90. Then they nickel and dime you, like shop rag fees, recycling fees, etc., so that $810 is not unreasonable. Don't they add a fee for living in your town?

I never bother to change the oil in my wife's vehicle, it just isn't worth the savings for me to do it. But when it comes to Harley services, it just made more sense to buy a service manual and do it myself. A couple tips, if you don't normally do any services yourself:

1- Buy a service manual. They are really handy! Youtube videos help also, Law Abiding Biker has a ton of good ones that I reference when I am going to do it myself.
2- Buy a bike jack. I never had one before this year, but they are worth having for just about every DIY project. I bought this one: https://www.harborfreight.com/1500-l...ift-60536.html
3- A decent torque wrench is a worthy investment, it's always better to be safe than sorry.
4- The derby hole funnel is worth it for the couple bucks it costs. I think that the Harley oil drain pan is worth it also, it just fits under the bike so much better.

Good luck!

Very good advice right here. Invest in tools and time, not dealership labor costs.

I'll be frank here. Everyone saying, "Do it yourself" maybe just isn't an option for some people. SoCalHarely, if there's a reason you cannot do the service yourself, yes, you're going to be spending a lot on money to have it done.

If you just don't know how, learn. It's easy and hard to screw up. Get a shop manual (ebook about $40 and print it out) and a lift ($150ish for a Black Widow brand, nice lift). The price you quoted is about average for out here too. In fact, they wanted a little more than that. I only asked out of curiosity. I don't trust them and do it myself.

I have always done my own wrenching. I appreciate all of the input but I needed to have it done this time due to time issues. Just looking for input on the 5 hours labor and parts cost. Thanks
