I'll try and give you the short version. I was selling my 05 EG Classic after 2 1/2 months of ownership- NOT because I didn't like the bike but I needed the money for something else which is now pretty much financiallyworking out so I'm going to try and keep it. Anyway I took off and sold my RUSH 1.75 PC3 and S/E Aicleaner and of course returned to stock. AHH So thats where all the low end torque went!!! The only thing still on is the Fulsac true dual conversion kit. Yes the bike is dangerously quiet. It has quite a bit more useable power around town thats for sure. Before I often felt like I was making a $hitload of noise and until 3rd gear was really going nowhere. I've also rediscovered the radio/CD player. Now whenI go down quite roads at 50 no one cares beforeI could be doing 40 and because of the exhaust I'd get some dirty stares. Not thatI give acrap believe me I'd rather inconvenience or annoy you than be down or dead because some ***** didn't care enough to see me so tough **** A Hole. Yeah the road is not a friendly placeto be unless I'm in my police car /dept bikethen they all go 30 and turn signal and are courteous .........like I just parachuted in here and don't drive off duty. But alas as nice as this quite bikethingis in a perfect world cagers would actually look for us and see us instead of us having to basically try andintimidate them with our loud exhaust if not at least take notice. So I ordered these stage 2 modified stock mufflers from a Bobvic seller on ebay that some of you have used and liked. Lets see how this goes.

When you get the mufflers from the Ebay guy, please PM me and let me know how you like them. I have been considering buying a set from him, but wanted a little feed back first.
There are actually a few factors to the apparent increase of "around town" torque when returning to stock components.
First, even though they get slammed up, down, left, and right for their decisions, the engineering team actually takes great care to get things right.
It might have been the freer-flowing mufflers which made you lose a little low-end torque. It might have been the different air box. Maybe both together doubled the losses. Just think what it would be like without the Fullsac conversion; there'd be even more low-end power available to your wrist.
Another thing, and this might be the biggest factor of all, is that now you don't feel so inhibited from opening up the throttle a little more around town since the only indication you're doing it is your speed and/or rate of acceleration. You're not calling attention to yourself audibly. That'll certainly tweak the ***-dyno.
You are right- the factory engineers really know a thing or two anout the bike and still have to comply with noise and emisions standards so the end result is a compromise where some aspects of the equationsuffer. The noise and seat of the pants dyno are not what I'm measuring by. The useable power band just seems better for pulling me out of second gear turns which makes me smoother and my turns faster. Boe-I will PM amd let you know how the stage2 purchase of these wonder mufflers goes. Othershere on the forumseem to have been happy with him in the past and Ihope I will be. I can tell you he has to "make them to order then will ship them" whichalready has me waiting. I dosell items on Ebay andI ship the very next day after I'm paid-but thats me.
Hey Hogdad,
Please if you would let me or all of us know, either in a PM or on the forum what you think of the new mufflers too. I almost bid on your Rush's, so I would be very interested in your evaluation of the 2 brands since you'll have had both systems I've been looking at.
Thanks
Yeah todayI removed the fulsac true dual set up and put back the stock crossover pipe with some modded stock 2005 touringmufflers I got from a yard sale. They look like new and the bike has never run better. It stays a little louder than stock up to maybe 2800-3000 rpms then it gets rippy and agood loud after that. very very little pop once in a while. For a 30 dollar investment I can't believe it.
I bought a set from ebay seller tkepple03, that I have been very happy with. He cuts out the baffle plates, and removes as much baffle as you wish, in "stages" of 1 - 5 .
I think the Ebayseller Bobvic has a good handle on this modification based on his feedback. In all honesty unless you hear a setup on your year bike etc that you really like around town AND on the highway I am starting to think that modding the stock nufflers is a good cost effective way to go. With Rinehart slips being close to 500.00 and most others falling in the 250-350 range it looks even more appealing. These modded stockers -assuming you like the stock look- can pretty much be made to fill the exhaust bill from mild to flat out too loud. Now I have an 05 and the heat issue isn't nearly as bad for me as my coworkers 2007 Ultra which just freakin cooks in Main st traffic. This other ebayer probably knows his stuff too. I am waiting on a set of modded stage 2's from Bobvic. I emailed him and told him I no longer need them but if he still wants to me to honor the sale which is perfectly fine and he would be absolutely right I will take them anyway espacially if they are slash cuts-I like that look better than the stock torpedos on my EGC. If I get em I'll let ya know how it goes compared to just running a 1 1/4 holesaw through the stockers which I think is what was done to the ones I put on today. But really they are damn good for 30.00 and could be done to any stock muffler for even less than that if you have a drill. A holesaw and an extension looks like it will do it unless I'm missing something on these yard sale ones I'm running.
