Would the camshafts or cam timing in the newer models cause heat. I know in some V8's, they retarded the vale timing by 4 or 6 degrees to meet emission standards (eg; early 90's 454) and that caused valve problems (burnt exh valves)
Reason I ask is, a guy told me last night (breifly) that he had done the cooler and the re-map and pipes, but changing the cam(s) made the biggest diff. Didn't get to finish the conversation though. He had an 07 Ultra.
Cams make a world of difference because: remember your engine is really just an air pump... the cams will allow a longer "duration" of open.... in and out .... so a little more fuel for power but a lot longer open so it can exhaust all gases and BREATHE to help it run cooler !!!! DIG??
