Another reason I won't buy a new harley. Why the hell they've got to connect the tender through the fuse block instead of the battery I'll never know. I would just install my old tender and cut the new one out.

Glad you found it. I didn't state it earlier, but while there was much truth to your efforts, your tenders were not bad, it was not obviously the connector, it was the connector circuit True. Only reason I state this is because I hear the same almost every day at work, Other techs troubleshoot to a point, but not completely, before they change oarts and find the issue was not corrected. Electrical is often a PIA butif you start at one end and verify each segment, you will find the fault.
Disclaimer - intermittent issues are an entirely different beast.

You don’t HAVE to use the attached pigtail. Just install the older one on the battery like you have been doing for years.

the day I rode my used bike home, the Galactically Stupid before me had tied the pigtail to the rear and it had jammed in the belt drive and sliced the block clean in half (lucky it didn't blow anything!)
I got a crash course in how the motoco had not simply gone direct to the battery, like I'd always known, and their tender goes into the loom

I cut a spare tail up and soldered it onto the tender wiring to save having to have the dealer replace the loom (service had told me). Use it every day, works a treat.

Last month I fitted a NOCO boost pack tail direct to the battery and it exists the otherside, just in case I have to give it large beans when I run my battery flat
'cause I keep forgetting that 6 custom dynamics, a digital dash, H-D adaptive headlight and a tail light drains my aged battery in under 10mins!

Over here in the States, 'loom' is a protective sleeve for the wiring, e.g., McMaster-Carr

The term “loom” was commonly used in the aerospace and automotive industry half a century ago. A wiring loom, also known as a harness, wire harness, cable assembly, wiring assembly or wiring harness, is an assembly of wires which transmit signals or electrical power. The wire looms are bound together by braiding, straps, cable ties, cable lacing, sleeves, electrical tape, conduit, a weave of extruded string, or a combination thereof. So, the word wiring harness and wire loom are interchangeable.
