I just checked my radio and I have never done a firmware update. My version is 1.19.1.2
my radio has run without hiccup since I bought the bike. The newest version out is 1.22.0.3 and I’m curious if it’s worth doing the update? Possibly run into bugs with it.
BTW…as a retired system software engineer, I do not do voluntary software updates, unless there are specific issues identified as fixed that I care about. If it says something like “general stability & performance” and Im not having specific issues I don’t do the upgrade. In general, follow on releases after the initial release are not developed by the most knowledgeable people that did the initial development, and many times post launch support is done by more Junior developers. And further, post launch releases are not tested as well as the initial release.
So…don’t do voluntary releases unless it claims to fix a specific issue you are having.

Question...if you skip updates that you don't want...then decide to do one you want two or three down the road- does the desired update incorporate all the ones you didn't want or only do the things it says it does?? Do updates typically require "the latest version"?

If they do, they will say so. My Sony camera required the previous update to get the latest, but they build on each other. In the case of the BOOM, just installing the latest will include every update from the previous updates as well. I updated to the latest a while back so the warning screen goes away after a few seconds, whether I accept or not.
I always saved the previous update just in case the new one gave me problems. That way i could go back to one i know worked well. Better safe than sorry.
